Lobaro GmbH

About the company

Lobaro develops IoT sensors and gateways for the metering, industrial and smart city sectors. The products are developed as reusable technical components that third-party companies use as building blocks for their own solutions - both via Lobaro GmbH's direct sales organisation and via sales partners.

The technical suitability of our products for as many applications as possible is at the centre of all developments - from sensor data acquisition to data transmission. In addition to hardware and firmware, Lobaro develops its own IoT platform that supports both in-house and third-party devices. The products are mainly radio-based and battery-powered, although most are also available in battery, solar or external power supply versions. Modern wireless technologies such as LoRaWAN, LTE-M/NB-IoT, DECT-NR+, Bluetooth and wireless M-BUS are used. The range of sensors includes temperature, humidity, air pressure, pressure/level probes, particulate matter and air quality, while the protocols often focus on Modbus and wireless bus.

During development, a particular focus is placed on the modularity and flexibility of the hardware and software components. This enables fast and efficient development, even with a large number of variants. At the same time, Lobaro sets consistently high standards for the security of IoT applications.

Today, Lobaro is a member of the LoRa Alliance, a design partner of Nordic Semiconductor and employs around 19 people.

Our history

Lobaro GmbH was founded in 2012 by Dipl.-Ing. Theodor Tobias Rohde and has developed from an engineering office into an innovative specialist for the Internet of Things in a very short space of time.
